Your plan includes an Individual Assistance Program (IAP) to help you save

We all face times when we could use support with a personal issue or professional advice on a financial or legal matter. But taking the first step can feel overwhelming. Where do you start? How do you find the right help?

Your Moda Health plan includes an Individual Assistance Program (IAP), powered by Canopy. This confidential program connects you and your eligible family members with professionals in financial, legal and mental health services. You automatically get access to a number of services at no extra cost. Because it’s separate from your health plan, using IAP services will not affect your benefits.

You have access to 24/7 support, virtual appointments within 48 hours and in-person appointments usually within five days. Think of your IAP as a no-cost way to find the right support for whatever challenge you’re facing.

More “extras” than you might expect

Whether it’s a family conflict or a legal dispute with a neighbor, IAP services can guide you on what to do next. You can talk with mental health counselors, financial advisors and legal professionals who will help you identify problems, set goals and make a plan.

  • Personal counseling: Get up to four in-person, phone or online counseling sessions per issue. These sessions can cover personal and family relationships, work conflict, depression or anxiety, stress management, alcohol or drug abuse or grief
  • Virtual sessions: Schedule a video or chat session with a live IAP professional at canopywell.com or email info@canopywell.com
  • Crisis counseling: Need help urgently? Call 800-826-9231 any time, day or night, to talk with a counselor
  • Legal and mediation services: Get a free, 30-minute consultation for up to three matters per year. If you retain the attorney or mediator, you’ll get 25% off the normal hourly rate
  • Financial coaching: Get unlimited phone consultations to help reduce debt, improve credit, save money or plan for retirement
  • Identity theft services: Get one free, 60-minute consultation for restoring your identity and resolving fraudulent debts
  • Resources for life: Find resources for eldercare, childcare and other everyday needs
  • Home ownership services: Connect with assistance and discounts for selling, buying or refinancing a home

Tip: Make the most of your benefit with up to four no-cost counseling sessions per issue. For example, you can use four sessions for a work conflict in March, then four more for holiday stress later in the year.

Save time and relieve stress

The IAP makes it easier to get help without the hassle of searching for providers, making multiple calls and waiting for appointments. You can even request a professional with experience in specific areas, such as LGBTQ+ communities or non-English languages.

Save on out-of-pocket costs

The IAP can save you money in several ways. You may be able to resolve a personal issue using free visits and avoid copays or coinsurance. Early support can also prevent more serious, costly health concerns. For financial and legal services, you’ll get professional guidance without paying a retainer.
